The earliest Bingo card on record is ‘Le Lotto’, a French game from the 1770s with 27 numbers across 3 rows and 9 columns numbered between 1-90. Only wealthy people could play at first - but it soon became popular country-wide!
Bingo first came to the US in the 1930s. In 1929, toymaker Edwin Lower started ‘beano’ in a carnival outside of Atlanta. The game used dried beans, a rubber stamp and cardboard sheets.
